Today, on this 2001 Jeep Cherokee, were going to install part number 13160 from Curt. All
right, this is what the hitch will look like once its installed on the vehicle. Next, well
give you some measurements thatll help you out in selecting some accessories such as
a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down
to the ground will be about 20 inches and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the
edge of the bumper will about 3 inches. Now, Ill go ahead and show you how the hitch is
installed. Now, well hold the block up to the frame underneath to show how it should
be oriented when its inside the frame. All right, now we can go ahead and install the
hardware that goes into the frame of the vehicle. Well fish wire the block and the bolts from
the inside of the frame out the hole and their access hole will be at the end of the frame.
Well work from the forward fastener and work away back towards the bumper. Well be doing
this on the driver side.Okay,
we got three of the fasteners installed now theyll be a forth fastener at the very end
of the frame, but well install that later after the hitch is installed. Now, well go
over to the passenger side and well clean out the existing threads that are inside the
frame and well also remove one of the bolts that hold up the exhaust hanger going towards
the front. Now, were going to clean out our threads, well go ahead and spray some lubricant
in there and then use a tube brush
to help clean out the threads
using
part
number 814092.
