How to Make Aloe Vera Gel At Home
A series of natural and safe beauty products for the skin require aloe vera gel.
The clear, viscous pulp derived from the succulent pea plant has been used in health and beauty
remedies for almost 2,000 years.
Aloe vera gel contains 99 percent water. The remaining 1 percent of its content is what
makes the difference.
It contains essential vitamins such as vitamin A, C, E, B12 and folic acid that work as antioxidants
against free radicals.
An enzyme called bradykinase found in aloe vera gel helps reduce excessive inflammation
when applied topically to the skin.
It also contains auxins and gibberellins, which are hormones that help wound healing.
Reaching the benefits of beauty, aloe vera gel stimulates the fibroblast cells that produce
collagen and elastin fibers, making the skin more elastic and less wrinkled.
The amino acids it contains also soften hardened skin cells and zinc acts as an astringent
to tighten pores.
Supplies:
aloe vera leaf sharp knife
clean the airtight container to store blender or immersion blender
clean bowl (if you are using an immersion blender)
Method
Cut the sheet into sections around 8? long. This makes it a little more manageable.
Cut the serrated edge. Try to get the limit because it is difficult to get the gel out
of those pieces. Cut the 8? lengths in 2 or 3 long strips.
Turn the sheet to one side and slide it just below the skin at the end of one of the strips.
Carefully slide the knife along the bottom edge of the skin along the entire length of
the blade. Try to stay close to the skin to get as much gel as you can.
Once you have removed all the skin, turn the section and repeat with the other side.
Cut the meat into 2 or 3 pieces and place it in a clean container (if you are using
an immersion blender) or in the jug of your blender.
Repeat steps 4 through 7 until all the sections have been flayed and collected in the jug
of the blender.
Mix until smooth. When you start your blender, it will almost foam immediately. This is normal.
If you are using an immersion blender simply mix in the container until it is smooth.
The foam will eventually come down. You can wait or continue and pour the gel into the
clean storage container and refrigerate it. It will remain in the refrigerator for about
a week.
