>>Geoffrey: Well, my name is Geoffrey. Some people know me as Jacko, and I studied the
Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Health Promotion back in 2010. Yeah I'm ahh Darwin born and
bred bloke, you know, true local Territorian. Cultural background; Kungarakan people ah
called the Paperbark People of the Finniss River Land Trust. And then my mother's mother's
country is is Gurindji country; and then I have my adopted clan in North East Arnhem
Land called the Rirritjingu and done a complete circle and come back here and been offered
ahh to opportunity to come and do some lecturing and help the other students coming through
- so I'm quite excited . Lecturing is new to me. I'm still a student myself. I can still
learn things from a young person; I can still learn things from somebody who hasn't got
a umm academic qualification. So I'm expecting to learn a lot more from the students that come in,
and, I think that if we have that same sort of respect for one another that we can learn
from one another, I think we can all achieve the same journey we're going on and and reach
that that shared ah goal. Coming back here sharing my experiences what I went through
- cause everyone's going to go through the same thing - um but these are probably little
little tips, if you can call them tips, or bit of advice of 'this can sort of help you
through'; because this is what you're going to experience. So I'm excited about that,
and if I can help someone or someone takes a little bit of notice of what I'm saying: then that's
my reward.
