if they say five o'clock
you can look for them at 4:55
that's how reliable they are
they care about us
they talks to us
in a friendly and respectable way
and most of all
they're just so reliable.
Faith in Action of Bloomington-Normal is an interfaith non-profit, and really
what we do is we provide free services to seniors. We coordinate
volunteers who take seniors to doctors appointments, we provide grocery shopping
we have friendly visitors and people to do reassuring phone calls, we provide
some light home maintenance, or home repair.
I was in the hospital,
and this is lady came in and asked me, did I have
any transportation to go
wherever I wanted to go.
And I told her "No."
So she said, "I will call someone," and so she called
Faith in Action, and they called me.
I was going down the list, and there
was Albert's name! I got so excited, because I thought
I have been wondering the last few years what ever happened
to Albert and I had worked with him years ago.
I applied for the job at 17.
This is when I met Donna Mann, She was in charge of surgery. I was in
surgery and the emergency room.
So I just called and asked if he was the Albert Crawford that had worked with
Donna Mann at the old St. Joseph's Hospital.
and that if it was, for him to call me.
And that evening I got a call from Albert asking asking the very same question. Oh my goodness!
We're back together again after all these years!
I'm shocked right now! Can you imagine?
You haven't seen nobody in sixty years?
We don't live that long! Great! Great!
I said Albert,
I'm going to .
get to see you, and I'm picking you up from your treatment, and what day and
time it was.
So, then afterwards, we had
so much to talk about,
so we went out for coffee.
Well, I really, really
enjoy
being a volunteer
of Faith in Action,
it's a wonderful organization
and you do so much, for so many
people that have a need,
Faith in Action of Bloomington-Normal has just been so blessed
without the strong support of our community,
all the volunteers we have, all the donors and sponsors, we just wouldn't
be able to survive a seniors. We would have somany more people who would end
up in nursing homes or assisted living We're so grateful for all the blessings
we've been given.
