I am Matsuma Reddy
Reddy from Modern Architects for Rural India
which is a member of FAN Asia--FAN South Asia.
Our organization works a whole range of governmental issues
both at grassroots and policy level.
In this conference, nexus, I came with three important focuses
ways of thinking, one is that
when we are talking about water, energy and food security nexus
mostly it is irrigated agriculture which is given highest priorities, and the rain-fed areas
which constitute 80% of the food production in the world and then 60% of south Asia, and india
is neglected and not given due priority in terms of investment, policy and extension of research and various other fields.
So one of the things which we came here is we made, shared a round table discussion on tapping the potential of rain-fed agriculture for the food security
I think that where we discussed
and we recommended that rain-fed agriculture should be prioritized, investments are to be made and there should be policy support afterwards.
