Being classy is my teenage rebellion - Rebecca Mackenzie-
The world would be a much better place if more teenagers
chose class over crass.
Unfortunately in a world where civility is on the decline
teenagers don't always see the benefit of using good manners
and nobody is pointing it out to them good manners means
complying with the rules of home school work
and team being a well-mannered communicator
treating family friends teachers bosses and coaches with respect
being truthful and having integrity driving safely
maintaining good hygiene and grooming
setting boundaries and limits using technology wisely and safely
being kind and warm even when feeling surly and rebellious
using good table manners considering the future thoughtfully
to teenagers good manners means
hold on a sec I'm texting I'll get to it
just bring me a sandwich in my room what's wrong with these jeans
I don't wanna do it I don't wanna go
oops I forgot you should see that picture I posted online
I said please didn't I a recent Rasmussen survey found that 91 percent of us feel
incivility is a serious problem and getting worse
this same poll also revealed that 70 percent of us think people are less
honest than they used to be
I think the thing I miss most in our age is our manners
it sounds so old fashioned in a way but even bad people had good manners in the old
days
and manners hold a community together and manners hold a family together
in a way they hold the world together Nancy Friday
without etiquette society at its best
is annoying and at its worst is toxic and dangerous
etiquette protects people from being sickened by others rude table manners
jostled by an impatient grocery store patron disparaged online by a
troublemaker
punched by an irate neighbor hit by a texting driver
a run off the highway by somebody suffering road rage
