Hi this is Rob Frank and this is my analysis of the meaning of Creep by Radiohead -- I feel that on
the surface the song is about how he feels insecure in a relationship
and
term creep would in that case refer to himself has not deserving to be there
However, I feel that this song goes a bit deeper than that and what he's really
talking about here is that
he's driving her away on purpose and that's why he's a creep
Because he wants to end the relationship first
In the beginning you can sense the guilt because he the couldn't look her in the
eye
And then I wish i was special
There's some jealousy
and anger there
Of course, "what the hell am I
doing here, I don't belong here"
That's the sense that
the relationship is almost doomed
and then the "I don't care if it hurts i want to have control"
that's the part where he feels that
by driving her away he's in control of the situation and it's not her doing the dumping
He has the desire to have a perfect body and a perfect soul, remaining intact from this
relationship
Also the "I want you to notice when i'm not around" rather than
the other way which
could be that she grows tired of the relationship and then it's over and she
doesn't think about it as much
So he is the one pushing her away
And the lines that she's running out again,
that could be referring to his continually pushing her away
by being a creep
For example, by saying things such as the line "whatever makes you happy"
I feel that the line is sarcastic
I think in the end
the "I don't belong here, I don't belong here" really tells that
essentially he is ending the relationship
because he knows that it's doomed. So that's my
interpretation of the meaning of Creep by Radiohead, and I hope you enjoyed it -- for more you can check out my
