Mentors are incredibly important in your career, they help guide the way. The easiest way to
find one is to actually find someone who's in a position that you're aspiring to be and
ask them to help you out. The majority of people actually do want to help people, but
you need to make it easy on them. The mentor's first thought when you're asking, "Will you
be my mentor?" is somehow I am going to have to do a lot of work as the mentor. In order
to get a mentor, you want to make it crystal clear that you're gonna take the initiative,
you're gonna do the work- that what you're looking for is advice, insight based on their
experience. You wanna make it as easy ob them as possible. The other thing you want to remember
in terms of mentorship is as much as possible, this should be a reciprocal relationship,
so what can you give back? And honestly, it could be as simple as helping someone organize
a closet, it can be helping to organize pictures on your computer if you're really technically
conversive- it's a matter of offering up something that you can do easily to save them time so
that they can invest more time in you. That's how you find a great mentor.
