Tell us your name, your work, what you do
My name is Mariano Giordano, I'm an agronomist
I work in Monte Buey, province of Cordoba
Our company works in agricultural production
It's set in southeastern Cordoba, Santa Fe and part of Santiago del Estero
You received a KWS RAK, did it address the history, etc?
In this season, we got a visit from KWS, offering an innovative solution: the RAK, along with their corn seeds
The recommendations and the productivity map
It was very innovative and very useful at the same time
We've been collecting zone data for quite some time
Yield maps, soil surveys from different fields
So when the productivity map came along, we found a coincidence
Between what was recommended and what we had collected about our fields
And it's a good thing, there are many seed providers and many different inputs in the market
So it's great to have these recommendations about the input, with this database
Distinguishing zones, and with recommendations for each hybrid, to achieve an excellent result
What's the vision of your company about this? You may do a variable fertilization, but there are alternatives
The company and the technical staff thinks this is very important, so we've been collecting data
And sometimes we've been making decisions based on macro zones
And we are aware we are missing the link that takes us to micro zones, smaller zones
To be more efficient and more competitive in production
Year after year, margins are smaller, and the technical staff must manage to produce better and cheaper
By linking what we've been doing with this data collection system
And unifying zones, that's something we're missing but we're going there
To be more competitive
We found the usefulness of RAK when deciding on sowing, density and fertilization of the hybrid
Many times we have yield data for a particular zone and it's very difficult to extrapolate them to a field
So the proposal of the RAK with the recommendations and the management zones map
The recommendation of density, fertilization and sowing date
is very useful to avoid mistakes in planning a field
