The Business Program and the Business School in general, I think it's the best and I wouldn't
want to be in any other major. One person that's helped me out tremendously this semester's
been Amy Yeend. She works in career services in the College of Business. She's an awesome
lady, she's very helpful and she's really passionate about making sure that each of
the business students succeed and makes sure that each of us gets everything, what we want
and need out of the program.
I'm really passionate about helping incoming freshman and incoming transfers. Eagle Connection
is pretty much the first faces that high school seniors and juniors would see. We're the student
recruitment team. We go out to high schools and college fairs whenever high schools have
them, we kind of show our faces there and give the students information about Southern
Miss and why we feel that our school is a great family, a great place for them to join
and be a part of.
When I came here the first semester, actually after the first day of class, my best friend
was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. That sparked me to see if we had a S.A.D.D.
program, a S.A.D.D. organization here which is formally 'Students Against Drunk Driving';
which now, students can instruct their decisions. We had had one previously, but the charter
had ended because no one kept the organization up. So, me and a couple of my buddies, we
decided to re-charter the organization, with myself as the Interim President. Actually,
that's thriving pretty well now. We're working to keep it going.
Come here and be prepared to work. Be prepared to earn your education because, you know,
in life nothing is given to you. You have to work for everything. But while you're here
and working and focusing on your education, do not forget to get involved on campus because
that's what's going to make your college experience the best that it can be.
