On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Stan and I'm here to tell you about theater
resources for community theater. One of the best resources for information, modeled bylaws,
all sorts of job descriptions, all sorts of things, is the website of the American Association
of Community Theaters, AACT. You can find them at aact.org. That's a theater organization
dedicated to supporting community theaters and enriching them. They have festivals and
they have competitive festivals and workshops and all sorts of online resources for you
to tap into. Help you find plays, help you locate experts in various fields and so on.
That's an website you should definitely visit. If you're in the Verde Valley Theater, what
we've got going on here in Clarkdale, Arizona as an example, just log on to verdevalleytheater.com.
Verde is spelled VERDE. Verdevalley.com would be the place to go. You can learn all about
our organization and what we're doing, where we've been, and where we're going. Other resources,
if you go to any theater expos there's a group called USITT, which is a group that puts on
expositions about technical stuff, light, lighting equipment, sound equipment and so
on. The suppliers of the various types of we equipment can be a really good source of
knowledge. If you talk to their sales people, have them visit your facility. They can give
you all sorts of insights into how you might do things differently, how you might do more
than you think you can do with the budget that you have. We found them to be very, very
helpful. We went to one of these down in Phoenix and we found a seating company there that
actually does replica theater seats for historic theater buildings. We're going to be restoring
a historic theater here in Clarkdale that's been given to us, so we're kind of exciting
about finding them. So if you attend events like that through these organizations that's
always extremely helpful too.
