Ron Jenkins: The things we know are going to happen, we plan for. But the things we
do not know, we just don't plan. Let me give you an example of that now. My
daughter got married. And when she got married, she said to us "I want to
get married soon". But I said to her "When is the date?". And she said to us "Dad, it's
not until 16 months time".
So that gave us an opportunity then to do proper planning. Because the fact is we had
time then to do shopping, she had time to take her Mum out and look at dresses.
She had time then to go out and look at restuarants. Places where she was
going to get married at. It was great because at the day of the wedding because it was planned,
it was a success.
Because we were prepared, there was nothing left for us to do, it was all prepared.
And you see in a disaster, we do not know when it is going to happen. So we have the
attitude it is never going to happen to me.
Because of that kind of attitude, we just say to ourselves "I don't need to do nothing".
So therefore, I would like to encourage everybody to participate in Queensland's One
Million Stars Challenge in order to learn what they can do in order to
prepare for the disaster that could happen.
