The Alumni Association's annual Homecoming parade was held on Saturday. This year's edition
of the parade was moved to Tiger Lane for the first time. Veterans Day at the U of M
was observed with a ceremony in the Library. In addition to the traditional playing of
"Taps", Lt. Commander Steve Siglock of the Tiger Battalion spoke about the sacrifices
that veterans have made for all of us. "We stagger at the eternal debt we owe to the
untold number of American veterans who chose to set aside their personal ambitions and
dreams to assure the well being of our great nation. We the living are indeed the beneficiaries."
The University honored 40 new inductees into the Centennial circle, which is for friends
of the U of M who have invested substantial resources to help support the University's
mission. Also, some current students were on hand to help thank the donors by saying
how their gifts have changed the student's lives. And student's photos from their travels
around the world doing study abroad programs from the U of M are on display in the Library
for international education week. For the U of M minute, I am John Miller, senior, film
and video major.
