Over the last twenty years we've seen a real awakening in da'wah at a global local level
and this is something which i personally found to be very very
inspiring and indeed motivational. However when we look at a lot of our materials
a lot of our techniques
a lot of our approaches
not much has really moved on
uh... and this is in times which are proving to be very challenging.
Now iERA stands for the Islamic Education
and Research Academy,
the keywords there being Research and Education
and our goal is to elevate the da'wah
by conducting research which would inform our da'wah activites so that we can
can develop effective,
targeted,
projects, campaigns,
models,
and tools which can convey the message of Islam
in a clear
concise
and effective way.
In 2009
we commissioned two research agencies to carry out statistically robust
research into a thousand people.
These findings we released at a press conference in July 2010.
We discovered some startling facts;
51% of people said that they had about Islam for the first
time
from school,
not the media.
40% of the people said they did not know who or indeed what Allah was.
Only 20% of people said at that come into contact
with the Qur'an.
This research, and there was many more things that were uncovered, will begin to form the
basis on how we understand the perceptions and the attitudes that non-muslims
have of Islam and how we can correctly and effectively give da'wah.
