Hi, this is Tom Kenaston. I'm a composer, singer, pianist, living in West Palm Beach
and New York City. This clip is how to learn scales on the piano. This could take three
years of piano lessons to cover all of the territory. There are hundreds of different
kinds of scales in all kinds of different places all over the keyboard. In its simplest
form, a scale is eight notes in sequence. On the piano the notes are named, starting
with A; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and then it starts over with A. So there, we just heard one scale,
A to A, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. You could also start here on
the C. This would be a C scale, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, eight
notes in sequence. Then you can start mixin' it all up. Go to a piano teacher, get some
theory under your belt, learn major minors, etc. etc. Good lick. This is Tom Kenaston,
learning how to play a scale on the piano.
