Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at Hot Toys "The Dark Knight" Joker 2.0 DX-11!
This figure has been released in 2013 and it's 1/6 scaled, it's about 12 inches tall!
Let's take a quick look at the packaging! It's a pretty sturdy box, very robust!
It has this dark purple on all the surfaces that contrasts with the much lighter purple of the bottom and top sides.
On the front we have this pretty demoniac Joker, and here at the bottom the name of the character: Joker 2.0 DX-11, from "The Dark Knight".
The box opens, it has a magnetic closure, and inside we have this beatiful decoration made by several "AH AH AH", glossy. Why so serious?
The decoration continues on this panel, where we have a real Joker card.
"Will the real Batman please stand up?", just like in the movie! Very nice replica!
The panel can be removed and inside you'll find the figure which I already removed, as you can see, with all the features I will show you in the review so I won't waste too much time on that.
And below this foam, you'll find the accessory compartment.
Let's take a closer look!
It's an amazingly realistic figure! Perfect in every detail!
The headsculpt is very well done, it's one of the nicest Hot Toys headsculpts that I've seen in person, I must say!
It captures perfectly the Heath Ledger version of the character, with this mouth, contracted laterally, this sly glance.
Impressive the paintwork on the make-up! With all these smears, these wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead. The skin texture, we can even see the pores, really impressive!
Very nice job on the hair as well, very nicely sculpted!
Joker's outfit is perfectly reproduced, check out the pattern on the shirt! So complex, but still perfectly reproduced!
By default, the character wears also the jacket and the coat, I removed them to show you the details of the shirt and vest.
This green vest with a missing button, just like in the film. Check out the tie! So realistic and perfect in every detail!
The golden chain...unfortunately, this version doesn't have the suspenders, like the previous DX, but not a big deal.
Purple striped pants, the Joker sockets, very colorful and peculiar!
One thing I want to point out is the fact that the shoes are very realistic, they feature real laces! In addition, they're made out of leatherette!
This is one of the few Hot Toys that have realistic shoes! Most of the Hot Toys figures have plastic shoes with sculpted laces! A really fantastic touch by Hot Toys!
Let's see the back as well! Vest is very nice!
I show you the jacket and the coat as well!
Her's the jacket, grey with this sparkling orange lining.
Here's the coat, very nice as well! Velvety, with unbottoned sleeves, just like in the movie! Impressive attention to details!
It also has the sparkling orange lining! Very nice!
Then I must show you the system to move the eyes (PERS) which is one of the features all the Hot Toys DX have.
All you have to do is remove this panel, which is magnetized, and inside you'll find this sort of joystick.
If you move this joystick, the yes will move! I'm terrified by this operation, let's see if I can move the eyes without damaging anything.
Check out how much realism the figure gains with this simple feature! Check out the expression! That is very Joker! Let me put the panel back in!
Check it out! This maniac look, very impressive!
The figure features 35 points of articulation, I won't show you them all, but it's a super articulated figure! With ball jointed neck, double jointed elbows and knees...
...legs can move forward and back, in and out. Torso articulation, ball jointed shoulders.
It's a super articulated figure, but the articulation is obviously limited by the outfit (not that much, actually! Works pretty nicely, in general!).
Let's take a look at the accessories! The figure comes with a ton of accessories, being a DX!
In addition to the always useful instructions, on how to assemble all the parts and how to use all the features.
We have the DX base, very nice! Purple, with LED lights...with this sort of metal panel (not real metal), rusty, featuring the movie logo. And this plate with the name of the character.
Very nice! Batteries not included!
Then we have a total of 14 hands, I won't show you them all one by one, but you know you have 14 hands at your disposal to hold all the accessories!
8 are gloved, like this one.
While 6 are without gloves.
Check out the dirt around Joker's nails. All these little wrinkles...these uncared hands. A bit purpleish, maybe because of the gloves, maybe they've lost some color. Really nicely detailed! Impressive!
Then we have these extra wrist pegs, in case you break them! Good thing!
Then we have a series of accessories, really impressive, that I'll show you right now, starting with this machine gun, with this movable parts...this part is even spring loaded! Really impressive!
Then we have a shotgun, with a movable part as well, not spring loaded this time, but still very nicely detailed!
Then we have the gun Joker uses in the opening scene of the movie, the bank robbery scene!
With this movable part, spring loaded, and even removable loader, and you can even see the bullet sculpted and painted on the loader!
Let's go ahead, with these cuffs, obviously Joker is in prison so the cuffs couldn't be missing! They work actually! How cool is that! They're not metal, they're plastic, but they're 100% realistic!
And that's not all, we have a lot of accessories yet!
We have these two blades that can be put into Joker's forefoot, if you remember, in the movie he uses this trick: he beats the heel on the ground and this blade comes out from the shoe.
There are two included.
Then we have this sort of potato peeler! :) I don't know what's the use Joker does of this particular knife...weird, really weird.
Then we have another knife, typical of the Joker, with retractable blade.
And then another knife, fantastic, I dropped a piece! There's this movable part that doesn't want to stay in place! Let's see if I can put it back in...it's difficult on camera...I won't do it now...
I'll show you it up-close anyway. It's really nice, it can be folded and opened up like this. Really nice!
We haven't done yet! Stay tuned, don't go anywhere!
Then we have these bucks, a lot of bucks! Jokerized! Check out George Washington's face, with the Joker face painted on!
Then we have a total of 14 Joker cards! I'd like to show you them all, because they're wonderful! I'll show you some of them!
So tiny, but still perfect in every detail! Even the back!
They're all different, at least on the front, the back is the same for all the cards.
As if that's not enough, we have a couple of very interesting accessories: the chair and the desk to recreate the famous interrogation scene of the movie!
Now, the desk is really impressive! Look at all these scratches! The desk has a little hole to insert this other accessory: this pencil.
I'm sure you remember the "magic trick" scene! "How about a magic trick!", I know, I'm a terrible Joker, but that was just to let you remind the scene!
There's even a lamp included! It's magnetized, there's a magnet inside the desk as well, so you can place the lamp on the desk without the worry that it may fall down!
And, dulcis in fundo, there's a little hole under the desk where you can plug the lamp (does not light up)!
An impressive attention to details by Hot Toys! Without considering all the work on the desk itself, look at this weathering! This dirt on the metal (not real metal)! Amazing attention to details!
Dulcis in very very fundo, we have this extra smiling Joker headsculpt! Really wonderful! Very very detailed!
Look at the smudged make-up! This expression, perfectly recreated! This large smile, very realistic teeth. Very nice!
Good job on the hair as well! There's not a lot of shading on the hair...but it's an amazingly realistic headsculpt!
Check out how the make-up gets softened here! A relly nice paint-job!
This headsculpt doesn't have the PERS feature, also because the eyes are not visible, so it wouldn't have made sense!
Last but not least, this background to recreate the interrogation scene! It's composed by three separate cardboard panels, it requires a bit of assembling using little velcro tabs, but it's really easy to do!
It even features the tinted windows, brick walls and all this dirt at the bottom! Check out how dirty this jail cell is!
On the back it's not printed so it's not double face, but it's a very nice touch by Hot Toys that they included this diorama to recreate the famous interrogation scene from "The Dark Knight" perfectly!
And here's Joker in the interrogation scene version! With chair, desk, lamp and background!
There's Batman as well, but it's from "Batman Begins" so the scene is not 100% accurate, but...details!
What can I say, guys!? This figure is definitely the ultimate collectible for every fan of the Heath Ledger Joker! This memorable Batman villain!
It's not cheap, that's for sure! The price is around 300 Euro nowdays, and I'm sure it's going to rise!
But, if you can afford it, I guarantee it's one of those figures that doesn't leave you unsatisfied with your purchase!
That being said, I highly recommend it and I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
