For Complex News, I'm Sean Evans with the story of Jose Armando Bustamante, the 17-year-old
sneaker restorer from Houston, Texas || who is turning literal trash kicks into a small
business.
Bustamente, whose RetroSnickers YouTube channel has more than 100,000 subscribers, was recently
profiled by Houston's NBC affiliate, where he explained how he turned a pair of trashed
sneakers that he bought for seven bucks into a $3,000-per month business in just two years.
Bustamente says that he rifles through everything from eBay to dumpsters in order to fill inventory.
He then restores the sneakers both for sale and for online tutorials. And. Instead of
charging an enormous mark-up to match what the sneakers would fetch on the open market,
Bustamente charges box price plus 150 bucks for labor, which oftentimes saves buyers hundreds
of dollars.
You can read more about Bustamente's story below, including a revamp video for his work
on a trashed pair of Military Blue 4s. For those of you watching on YouTube, peep a link
in the description for the story's post on Complex.com. That's the news for now, but
