Residents of Midland have had a problem that has turned their houses into outhouses
KMID ABC 2's Rob Teuker has that story
imagine sitting at home on a normal evening
when suddenly it begins flooding with raw sewage i received a panic call
from my wife
at 8:10 when she got home from work
saying that there was sewer fflowing everywhere in the house this happened to several
residents living near the corner of douglas and austin street in midland
on the evening of monday february twentieth thousand six
and what can be worse than having one's home flooded with human feces
when it happens not once
not twice but three times the first time dating back to may two thousand four
then again in february last year
and now february in two thousand six i've lived in this house here for twenty
six years
and never had any problems with your two years ago when i
was initially flooded about six hundred square feet of my house
the occurrences have brought financial setbacks as well
last may my cost was sixteen thousand five hundred dollars essentially
in costs to recoup it i called the city about that. I
presented them my bills for all of that and they denied all of that
and said it wasn't their fault
the city of midland declined to comment on the case
but whether or not midland does reimburse the residents they just want
to make sure the problem is very fixed once and for all
we're just tired of it would like to see the city take some responsibility
and take care of it
and more importantly investigate and fix the problem nobody should have to go
through
having their entire house flooded with feces and raw sewage reporting in
midland
