The Prime Minister has announced the Australian
Government's Industry and Innovation Statement -
A Plan for Australian Jobs. The industry statement -
A Plan for Australian Jobs has three key elements.
The first is the backing Australian firms to win
more work at home. The second component is
supporting Australian industry to increase exports
and win business abroad. The third component is
helping Australian small and medium businesses to
grow and create new jobs. One of the key
initiatives in the plan, and specifically
addressing supporting Australian industry to
increase exports and win business abroad, is the
establishment of up to 10 industry innovation precincts.
The industry innovation precincts has
three components under the initiative. First up,
up to 10 industry innovation precincts will be
created to build business-led networks and
collaborations in sectors of competitive
advantage and emerging opportunities. Second, the
Industry Collaboration Fund to support large scale
projects within precincts, and third, the Industry
Innovation Network, a digital platform to
facilitate links and knowledge transfer, between
precincts and broader domestic and international environments.
The precincts will provide a greater
pool of trained workers and infrastructure to
address industry needs. This will facilitate
economies of scale and generate positive
spill-over benefits to the broader economy. We
invite your contribution to the consultation process.
Your input will inform the final design of the
Industry Innovation Precincts initiative.
