In order to understand engineering
we first have to look into the significance of an engineer.
Quoting James Dyson, "Engineers are behind the cars we drive
the pills we pop, and the way we power our homes." Which is true.
We see it everywhere; from the shape of our chairs, to the microprocessors inside our
phones. Engineering is all around us. Look around you.
What do you see that doesn't involve an engineer? And that's what makes enginering unique.
The fact that there are there are so many different types engineering.
Electrical, petroleum, mechanical, biomedical, civil, nuclear!
just so many different fields which can all be combined into a single entity.
Since the dawn of time we see this synergy.
The invention of the wheel, to it's modern use in cars.
to who knows what the future! The usage of the wheel is just one example of how
engineering has
progressed throughout time. Think about it. It's just mindblowing.
A modern example can be found at the Cyclotron Institute located at the
heart of Texas A&M University.
So here at the cyclotron institute, we have a
particular application on the cyclotron
along with this aerospace and radiation industries
And they test their electronics. So, basic nuclear science research,
medical pharmaceutical applications
plus, electronic applications.
These machines are useful. We can see all of these here at the Texas A&M Cyclotron Institute.
The pride of the engineering profession
lies in it's widespread mentality. It's amazing that all these different minds
interconnected working towards a common purpose
are what provide for society. Engineers focus on the future,
the next step, and on taking us higher. Engineers make the world a better place
...for all of us to live in.
