Botox injection for migraine
Botulinum toxin is believed to inhibit the release of certain pain chemicals, resulting
in a knock-on effect on the pain processing systems that generate migraine headaches.
For migraine treatment, a small amount of botulinum toxin is injected into various muscles
in the forehead, temples, back of the head and the neck.
The injections may take up to a week to become effective and pain relief can last up to 3
months or longer, though this may not always be the case.
