This is one of the few places where the skin is tight. Most of it is tight. If you use
the middle you are not going to cut her eye but if you use the corner you might. Just
go right around the rim and go slow because if you get something hung up in there like
a little eye matter then, in fact, never clip them with eye matter in there. There is a
way to get that out. When they are wet in the bathtub; just get that wet and comb it
out. You see here I was pulling that eye back and I’m going to get the middle of it and
don’t expect yours to look real good the first time. Hold their mouth shut. That is
one thing that will cut easy their tongue and if they do that. I’ve never done it.
Most groomer’s have but it’s hard to make it quit bleeding. In fact I don’t know how.
Some of the vets use ice and some have to be stitched but you always hold their nose
shut when you are around the face. And she’s a licker. Most poodles are. See there, I’ve
got that. I’m going to do the same thing around her lips with the middle of the blade.
And you pull this up and stretch that bottom lip holding her mouth. See her lips. Hold
that mouth tight. And like I said very few people learn how to cut them because if you
are like I was, you are scared to death. When you cut them is when you get too confident
and go too fast. I’ll do the same on this side. You have to kind of get your hand in
this position. I don’t know of any other way that you could do it. First hold the mouth
and then stretch that eye.
