Hi, it's Jan at My Local Business Online. A bit of exciting news, Google have started
the merge between Google + Local, which is the old Google Places page and the Google
plus business page which is the one you see here with all the social extra bits.
This is available at the moment only for businesses who have set up their Google plus business
page as a local business in the local business category, which means you get the map on your
page. To start the merge process you need to click
the unverified button. It will tell you that you need to make sure that all your information
is public so that the merge can go ahead. Once it has started merging you will need
to verify your address once again by postcard to make sure it is you claiming your page.
So lets change the settings because it is telling me that my contact info isn't public.
So I'm going to change this to public and click save, and my address to public and click
save. Then done editing. Now if I click the unverified again, I can click the
verify now button. It will then go through some steps to make
sure you are the same business as the Google plus Local, which is the old Google Places
page. So, is this my business? My local Business Online... You can view the page, but yes that
is me. So click continue to verify. Now you can request a postcard with a PIN
and add an optional contact name. That's great if you are working in a business with several
staff so that it goes to the right person to actually verify the pin.
I agree to the terms and conditions and I am now going to request my postcard. It's
now in the mail. So 'll post this video up on my blog and include
some links below it as well that will help you verify your own business page and answer
any questions you may have I'll speak to you soon
