Before we can begin to work with this new version of Microsoft Word, we
obviously need to start it up or launch the program/ With Windows Vista, things
have changed slightly. Now there's a whole separate title at lynda.com
on Windows Vista, so we won't go deeply into it here but to launch an application
like Word 2007 here's what you can do. So go down to the bottom left corner here,
and click on our Start button. It looks a little bit different than it did
if you're used to Windows XP but when we click it, you'll see there is a pop-up
menu. Again there are some differences, but there
also some similarities. And you can see we've got All Programs right
up here. So if I wanted to, I could go to All Programs,
and try to navigate through the various folders and try to find Microsoft
Office and then find Word and so on, but I really like this new features, it's
called the Quick Search bar down here where it says Start Search.
I'm just going to click down there and I'm going to start to type Microsoft.
So micro is all I need to type and you can see right at the top I've got all the
Microsoft titles and right at the top is Microsoft Office Word 2007.
So I'm going to give that a click to launch our program.
So there we have it. We're ready to start using Word now and as
you can see, things have changed quite drastically so we'll need to get acquainted
with our new environment before we can start using it efficiently and
we're going to do that next.
