Thank you for joining us today. I’m Rudy Stebih and welcome to Episode 29 –Customizing
The Mouse For Left Handed People here on Help Desk TV.
If you are left-handed, you may want to change the way your mouse works to make the mouse
easier to use. By default, the left mouse button is the primary mouse button, while
the right mouse button is the secondary mouse button. When using the mouse with your left
hand, left-handed users may find the mouse easier to use when the primary button is below
their left index finger rather than below their left middle finger.
To switch the functions of the left and right mouse buttons, click ‘Start’ -> ‘Control
Panel’. The control panel window appears. Click ‘Printers and Other Hardware’. The
Printers and Other Hardware window now appears. Click ‘Mouse’ and from the’ Mouse Properties’
dialog box make sure the ‘Buttons’ tab is selected. If you are left-handed and want
to use the right mouse button to perform most tasks, select the ‘Switch primary and secondary
buttons’. Windows immediately changes the way your mouse works.
A mouse representation displays in real time which mouse button you will use to perform
most tasks. Click ‘OK’ to confirm your change.
