Martin Walsh: We're announcing today a collaboration between the professional firefighters of Massachusetts
Teamsters Local 25 and Teamsters throughout the Commonwealth
and Building Trades throughout the Commonwealth, where we're setting up a collection
for, we're actually asking the residents of Massachusetts to drop off
much-needed materials to local firehouses around the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts, which will be collected by Thursday June 9th, picked up by
the Teamsters and the Building Trades, and we'll be bringing those items
to Springfield Massachusetts on Thursday afternoon. We're looking for water
blue tarps in particular, flashlights, batteries
glow sticks, bungee cords and rope. The people of Springfield have been
a lot of the people who have been affected by these tornadoes
do not have power, so it's important for them to have some type of lighting, and those
going on their property you can see some the devastation that's happen
and they're trying to find their belongings
and we don't really see this in Massachusetts, or we haven't seen it in a long time
we watch it on TV and maybe see it in the mid-west, and it'*** home so the Labor movement
has stepped up to assist in whatever we can do to help
people of Springfield. Sean O'Brien: It feels great, I mean anytime you can help someone
in a time of need, it's what we're all about us being Teamsters and all and the
Labor movement, and so it's an honor and a privilege to make certain that we take care of
people who are affected most by this terrible tragedy
