Rediscovering the Kingdom Part 1 of 12 Myles Munroe
Benny Hinn (BH): And to Jesus be the praise and the glory! Listen – you're going to
love the program today because Myles Munroe is with me here from the Bahamas. Every time
he's on the program, phones just ring off the hook.
Myles Munroe (MM): It's good to be back!
BH: This is heaven here. We're going to talk about the Kingdom, because nobody explains
and really can minister to us about the Kingdom of God like Pastor Myles Munroe. You've written
some amazing books – that's the three of them, I think, or more.
MM: This is the first one here that we wrote.
BH: Rediscovering the Kingdom.
MM: Rediscovering the Kingdom. Yes.
BH: May I ask you before I'd ask you any question – "Why did God give you this tremendous
truth?" I mean, there are a whole lot of preachers out there that don't preach that.
MM: I think it's because of the way He had me conceived. He also made sure that I was
able to experience both sides of the human drama – and that is, I was born in a kingdom,
1954, and then became independent as a nation, which means I also experienced democracy.
BH: From the both sides, yeah.
MM: That unique experience prepared me to understand scripture in the experiential way.
"What is the difference between the Kingdom and the democracy?" Pastor Benny, one of the
things that's very interesting is that most of our theologians that have produced a lot
of our work were never born in the Kingdom, so they don't have the experience of the biblical
concepts of Kingdom. So, much advanced theology was written by people who never experienced
Kingdom Life and the bible is about a King and a Kingdom.
BH: Ever since I've heard you, I've had to re-adjust my mentality about the bible – because
now, when I read the bible, I'm thinking 'Kingdom' and that puts a new life on it.
MM: We got about 30,000 letters and emails in one week... about the Kingdom, and much
of those are from pastors – they are from people who are bible teachers. And they say,
"You have caused us to go back and re-examine the bible."
BH: Can you talk about the concept of the Kingdom, what do you mean by that – in your
book?
MM: In this book, I use this book talking about ideas, because ideas control everything.
Everything we see around us used to be an idea. This shirt that we wear used to be an
idea in someone's mind. These shoes on our feet used to be an idea. This camera used
to be an idea... Everything that we see. Our houses used to be an idea. Ideas not only
control the world but the world is run by dead men's ideas.
BH: Wow.
MM: Aristotle, Socrates, Plato – they've created democracy as an idea and so they ruled
the world from their grave. Well, the concept that a person has determines how they see
life. The Bible has a different concept that we have been preaching and teaching. For example,
kingdom concept is opposite to democracy concept. If your concepts are wrong, your conclusions
would be wrong. If your conclusions are wrong, your theology is wrong.
BH: Explain that. Explain the concepts of the Kingdom.
MM: Yes. A kingdom concept is the idea that God invented. God was the first king. As a
matter of fact, the bible says 'He is the King of Glory'. The Bible calls him 'The Ancient
King', which means the oldest one in existence. He produced the idea when He first created
the heavens and the earth. He's called 'The King of Glory,' which is an invisible country
– heaven.
BH: Wow.
MM: Then, He wanted to extend this Kingdom beyond heaven, so He created a physical universe.
He created the heavens and the earth so that He could extend His Kingdom. All kingdoms
want to expand and that's why the Kingdom concept is so critical. God not only is the
first king, but He produced children who will turn to be kings into the earth. Not only
He became a king, through creation of an invisible world, He became the 'King of Kings', who
are his kids. So we are the kings over the physical realm of earth. He is our King so
He is the King of Kings – He established the first kingdom.
In this book, I have talked about the concepts of Kingdom. You'll find in this book the 26
Concepts of the Kingdom.
BH: Which we're going to talk about, right?
MM: Right. Then, in this book, I've talked about the 9 Principles of the Kingdom that
makes those concepts work. This is why the two books are so important together. This
one deals with changing the person's mind to think like a Kingdom. This is what you've
talked about earlier. Then, you've heard it – you've got to change your thinking. For
example, all kingdoms have kings. Kings are also automatically lords. They're a lord.
All kings must have a constitution. They must have laws. They must have symbols.
Every kingdom must have a Code of Ethics that people live by. Every kingdom must have a
body of law that brings keys so that Kingdoms work. But Jesus says, "I will give you the
keys of the Kingdom."
BH: Yeah.
MM: He wasn't talking about keys we use to open doors, even though that's what the principles
do. He was talking about authority to have access to government power – the laws of
the Kingdom. The Concepts of a Kingdom are critical and there are 26 of them I talk about
them in this book. I will recommend that maybe, when you'll read this book, read the last
chapter first. It's the only book I say, "Read the last chapter first," because in the last
chapter, for example, I listed the 26 concepts. To understand the bible, you must understand
the 26 concepts.
BH: Let's talk about this, right now.
MM: I'm going to talk about two of them.
BH: Okay, please. I'd like that.
MM: The Kingdom concept of kings. A king is never voted into power, that's why we can't
vote Jesus out of power. A king's authority is in his birthright. You don't make Jesus
a king. He was born one.
BH: That's right.
MM: A king cannot be voted out of power, so whether we like or dislike Jesus, all the
discussions about Jesus on the CNN network and all the other networks, they cannot touch
him – because his authority is not voted in. You cannot vote him out. A king's word
is law is his kingdom. That means the laws in the kingdom are not a product of congress
and the Supreme Court or senate. It's the mind of the king. It's completely different.
Thirdly, a king personally owns everything in his kingdom. That's a law. The President
of the United States doesn't own the country. The prime minister of my country doesn't own
the Bahamas. But in a kingdom, the concept is the king owns the country and the people
and the animals and the ocean. He owns everything.
BH: Can we, on the program tomorrow, talk about all of these concepts?
MM: Absolutely.
BH: And on this one, I want to ask you some questions. First, I want to ask about God's
priority. What is God's priority?
MM: That's probably one of the most important questions because we have been focusing on
what I call 'The Minor' and we have been missing 'The Major.'
BH: Well, how true.
MM: Priority has to do with it. "What's the most important thing on earth?" And Jesus
stated God's priorities...
