Okay, the next part we will talk about is rebounding. First step in proper rebounding
is positioning, you must have proper position before you can get the rebound, okay. In order
to get proper positioning once the ball has gone up, you must get inside, whether you
have a defender here, if they are behind you, you must get around them and inside. This
is called "inside position" to where there is nobody in between you and the basket, that
is called "inside positioning". So once the ball comes up, you want to get inside position
and box out your defender. What "box out" means is block them out from getting the rebound.
So when the ball comes off the goal, there is nothing blocking you from getting the rebound
and they are behind you, you want to get low and kind of put your back side on them to
where they cannot, if they have to jump up, they cannot jump over you or around you. Just
make yourself low and wide, that way when the ball comes off the rim, you will be the
first one with the rebound and this is called "proper positioning" or "boxing out".
