damaged area, often
this means removing an entire section of wall vinyl.
Use a level or straight edge to measure square around the damaged area,
if possible, use a stud finder to locate the vertical studs behind the wall.
Measure and cut a replacement piece of new drywall to fit the damaged area.
Again, use proper tools for this and wear some hand protection if necessary.
Place the replacement drywall over the damaged area and trace around it.
Before cutting the damaged piece, check to make sure there are no power wires
behind the wall, if you find any, turn off the breaker use portable lighting to
do the job.
Then, cut the damaged area horizontally to the center of the nearest studs so the new
drywall can be attached to the studs.
Carefully cut out and remove the damaged piece using a drywall saw.
At the edges over the studs, you may need to use a retractable knife or small chisel.
Place the replacement drywall into the hole and trim it as necessary to fit.
