I'm Dr. John Morse, and I'm here at LockNClimb headquarters in
Independence, Kansas
and we're doing some ANSI 14.5 testing on a couple of different ladders
and we're gonna start with the Foot Slip Test
and i've got set up now in a Werner
type 1 ladder
this is in FE
ten sixteen dash two
rated two hundred fifty pounds
It's a 16 footer
and I have got
attached to the third rung from the top
a load
in this
basket right here of two hundred and fifty pounds
of weights
the top of the ladder
is resting against a sheet of AC plywood that's been sanded with three twenty
grit
and the bottom of the ladder
is resting on the same
type material it's been sanded with
three twenty grit
and i'm going to pull
on the base of the ladder
with a force gauge here
I've got a dowel behind the feet
and i'm gonna pull
and
we should get a reading right here on this display
OK. We're at zero
pulling on the base of the ladder
it's got to go to 50 to pass
there's fifty two
no movement
sixty
sixty five
No movement at
seventy
and our tester's about out of gas
so anyway we thought we passed that test with no problem
