Joining us tonight is President Andrew Jackson. The President will talk with us about a significantly historical event that took place in the 1830's
We also have joining us a native american named Falcon. They will both be talking about an event called the Trail of Tears.
Good Evening Mr. President, would you please tell us what exactly the Trail of Tears is?
The Trail of Tears is a name given to the ethnic cleansing and forced removal of Native Americans
That's very interesting. Now, Falcon, could you please add to the president's description of The Trail of Tears?
Well the current event was very painful to us Native Americans. We walked through all four seasons hoping to relocate our position.
Many died. Few were standing.
Mr. President, you are the seventh president. Correct? Yes.
Now, if you were the 44th president living today in the 21st century how would the Trail of Tears be different today than it is then?
Well, the Trail of Tears would have a different name more like "Lifestyle Makeover".
The U.S. Government would try negotiations to work something out. It would be open to providing housing as well as subsidies.
Do you agree with the president's ideas? Yes. He is correct on how our rights would be different from today. We would have a standing chance against them, on relocating our position and forcing us to leave our own property.
Now, Mr. President, what is your OPINION on the Trail of Tears? We tried to peacefully ask for their land and we said we would give them payment. Most of the Native Americans agreed but SOME of them revolted against us.
So we were forced to fight against them
Sadly, no, I do not. When we refused, the soldiers attacked us which forced us to revolt against them. When we finally agreed, they never gave us payment. The tribes were Muskogee, Chickasaw and Choctaw.
