When is the over command used in competition? It is used in generally one, two, or three
obstacles within a agility course. Depending upon the location, and the course, there could
be two to four opportunities to have your dog go over an obstacle. Behind me, you'll
see a basic setup of an over obstacle. These sometimes will be narrower or wider, and certainly
taller, depending upon the withers of your dog. This is a basic idea of what the over
obstacle looks like, and as mentioned earlier, it's generally placed in the first quarter,
middle, or the last part of an agility competition. Before any agility competition, the handler
is allowed to preview the course, as well as do a couple practice runs, just to get
you mentally prepared, and your dog on the obstacles that you will be challenged with.
So to summarize, you'll find the over obstacle throughout the agility course; sometimes used
two times, sometimes used up to four times.
