Hi everybody. I'm Dr. David Reath and I'm here to talk about this week's Truth-O-Meter Tuesday question.
Well I think this was kind of an interesting question we came up with this week and we had a lot of good response to it.
We are looking at how social media, video conferencing, Skype, Face Time has had an increase
in the amount of people wanting to have plastic surgery, particularly in changing the appearance of the face.
This is actually true. This is a new phenomena we are seeing and I think it has to do with the fact that when we are using these media
we get to look at ourselves at the same time we are conferencing with somebody else.
as one person put it, it's like "a mirror on steroids."
and getting to see what we look like but how we hold our head
when we're looking at an ipad or a video camera that may be on table height, we're looking down
which bunches up everything in the neck and then we look at it and thinnk "Oh my goodness I look like I have a turkey's neck."
So it's an interesting phenomena, and it is leading people to look at treatments of the face particulalry
facelifts and neck lifts. So the answer is true. I guess this is a mark of our time.
An let's find out who this week's winner is.
Robyn Saragas. Robyn, congratulations. You're this week's winner.
