Hello, and welcome to Korea! My name is Ida Daussy.
I'm originally from France, and it's been 17 years since I began living in Korea
and 12 since I started working in broadcasting.
I've also been serving as an honorary ambassador for Korean tourism.
I'm really very excited that I'm here to talk to you about Korean culture,
my culture, and in particular about its culinary tradition.
It's not difficult at all because everything is so delicious!
To begin with, you should definitely try Korean barbecue,
which, as you may know already, is ranked the most popular menu among Korean restaurant-
goers overseas no matter where you happen to be.
In Korean, it's called 'Bulgogi' or 'Galbi.' With one bite, you'll melt, I guarantee!
It's so so delicious!
The seasoning is unique and is soaked deeply into the meat
so that the texture is tender and the taste is incredible!
Another must-try item is, of course, Kimchi, the most celebrated Korean food item world-wide.
If you are in Korea, you'd know Koreans actually eat quite a lot of vegetables.
That is why eating Korean food helps you stay healthy, or healthier in some cases.
And you won't have to worry about finding something you like because
there are many different kinds of vegetables eaten here, as well as many different cooking methods.
For instance, there is Bibimbap
- a bowl of steamy rice topped with assortments of sliced,
lightly cooked or sauteed vegetables,
crowned with a generous swath of a spicy hot chilly pepper paste.
If you eat it that way, it's great. But if you top that with a fried, or raw, egg and mix it all up, it'll taste even better.
Then there are the endless arrays of street food in Korea.
Make sure you taste them.
There are many, many different things available, and the majority of them are very tasty!
Eating Korean food is fun as well.
The way the side dishes,
which could amount to dozens of different dishes, are served and eaten is particularly interesting.
They are not only varied but also eater-friendly, served in small portions but bottomless!
I've told you that Korean cuisine is one of the best out there-in terms of variety, flavor, and wellness.
Besides, the act of eating it itself is intriguing!
Korean barbecue (Galbi or Bulgogi) is not the only thing with a two-thumbs-up recommendation.
Many, many more selections are waiting for you.
And as you'll try as many of them as you can, you'll be sure to discover your favorite.
Why don't you come visit Korea and find it out?
