Hey Phoenix College, it’s Michael Rosenberger from the Center for Teaching and Learning
with another Quick Tip. Now you've probably heard the term BYOD, but it's bring your own
device. But that will leave you wondering how students are going to connect their cell
phones or maybe their own tablets to the instructor station in the classroom. Well at Phoenix
College we have a great solutions and it's called AirServer.
AirServer is an application that you can run on the instructor station and it allows students
with and IOS or Android device to mirror their screens to the classroom screen.
So to start air server, you would log on to the computer with your MEID and password like
you normally do, then find the AirServer icon on the desktop - or you can find it in the
Start Menu as well. Double click to start the AirServer application. and In the bottom
right corner you will see notification that AirServer is running. So you are good to go.
Now, students just need to share their screen with Airplay for iOS or Miracast for android.
Best thing is there are no cables are needed! And it's an easy way to allow student to collaborate
and share in class. Check below to tutorials on starting AirServer or activating screen
sharing.
And of course, if you need more information on how to setup AirServer or ways you can
use this technology for teaching, give us a call or stop by to see us in CTL. We’d
love to help you!
