Welcome to Jacket’s Required, hello, I’m Dominic Lacquaniti, designer and tailor.
On this week’s episode of Jackets required TV we’re going to look at the age old adage
of, ‘you get what you pay for,’ when it comes to your clothing.
You may think it’s no big deal to grab a shirt on sale at a department store or a discount
store.
Sure it’s convenient and quick, probably cheap too.
But what’s the quality like?
When you purchase a piece of clothing do you know if it’s something you’d love to have
for years to come or is it more disposable in your mind?
Many times people go for the disposable look – meaning it meets an immediate need but
you really don’t feel anything about it and frankly you don’t care if you even ruin
it when you wear it.
That’s just a waste – sorry folks.
It is so much smarter to build your style, your wardrobe, around key pieces that you
love, that are timeless, and that you can KEEP building upon for years because they
last AND maintain their quality.
These are the types of pieces that I design.
The pieces in your wardrobe that you consider your Go-To items.
The articles of clothing that you just love to wear, every time.
The difference between something created just for you that will stand the test of time and
something off the rack, on sale, are immeasurable – and that’s saying something coming from
a tailor (laughs).
I hope that you found this week’s topic helpful and the old saying true – you get
what you pay for.
So how are you going so spend YOUR style budget this year?
Think about it…
