to Discover the Truth and say that it’s a blessing to
be with you. An important question that every believer
should ask is where is my devotion? In this world
there are many things that we can devote time to. We
can spend time on family, friends, careers, hobbies,
and the list goes on. While there’s nothing wrong with
spending time with these items, they should never
remove our focus from what’s most important and that is
our love and devotion to one we worship.
Realize that everything within this world is finite,
is transitory, meaning that someday everything we see
and have will come to an end. Our relationships, our
marriages, our friends, our careers, our wealth will
someday not exist. In this single moment, the only
thing that will matter is our past devotion to Yahweh,
our Father in heaven? Did we fully commit our lives to
Him or were we guilty of only going partial way?
One man that was totally committed to his Father in
heaven was Joshua. As the leader of Israel he stood as
a beacon of light, never deviating from the truth. In
Joshua 24:15, we find there that he gave the people a
choice as to whom they would serve.
Here's what it says in the book of Joshua, it says
there, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yahweh,
choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the
mighty ones which your fathers served that were on
the other side of the flood, or the mighty ones of the
Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my
house, we will serve Yahweh…(verse 20) If ye
forsake Yahweh, and serve strange mighty ones, then he
will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that
he hath done you good.” To begin with, we find here
Joshua’s personal devotion and conviction to His Father
in heaven. He says here, as for me and my house we will
serve Yahweh. Regardless of what Israel chose, this man
was going to stay the course. I believe that this
is one of the best examples of personal commitment we
find in Scripture. No matter who or what, nothing
was going to distract Joshua from his focus and his
service to his Father Yahweh. What about us; is
our Father in heaven the first focus within our
lives; are we going to follow Him no matter what?
At the beginning of this passage, Joshua says to the
people, choose you this day whom you will serve. Even
though Yahweh’s truth is not a democracy, we still have a
choice. We can serve Him or we can choose to reject Him.
Sadly, most people today choose the later.
An important concept that we should all understand is
this – everything we do in this life has a consequence
and the consequence is most great with our walk as
believers. Joshua told the people that they could not
serve both Yahweh and the false gods of the nations;
that they had to choose. For those who chose to rebel,
Joshua gave this warning; he said that Yahweh would not
forgive their sins and that He would consume them.
In this case understand that Israel had a choice and they
had no excuse as a result; they knew the truth. So
rejection at this point wasn’t something they could
justify. In the book of John, Yahshua the Messiah
said these words, He says, “If you were blind, you
should have no sin: but now you say, we see; therefore
your sin remains.” What Yahshua’s saying here is
simply this -- Yahweh doesn’t condemn those who
are ignorant, but those who know will be held
accountable. So again we find here Joshua
setting before Israel a choice and giving the
consequences for rejection. The lesson here is very
simple – our devotion cannot be divided.
In 1 Kings 18:21 we find another man that was
completely committed to His Father in heaven. This man’s
name was Elijah or Eliyah, meaning “my El is Yah or
Yahweh.” It says there in that
passage, “And Elijah came unto all the people, and
said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if
Yahweh be Elohim, follow him: but if Baal, then
follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”
Before we consider what Elijah said, let me explain
what’s happening here in this passage. Prior to this,
Elijah prayed to Yahweh that it would not rain upon the
land. This was in response to the sin of King Ahab and
Jezebel. Yahweh granted this man’s prayer and as a
result, three years of drought followed.
After three years of no rain, through the prophet
Obadiah, Elijah calls a meeting with King Ahab. He
asked that the King along with the prophets of Baal
meet him at Mount Carmel. Elijah’s plan was simple,
was to show the power and supremacy of Almighty
Yahweh. In verse 21, the stage was
set. All of Israel was gathered at Mount Carmel
including King Ahab and the prophets of Baal. The test
for supremacy was again simple; take a bull as a
burnt offering, put it upon wood, and see which mighty
one world consume the burnt offering.
First up was the 400 prophets of Baal; these guys
danced, chanted, and even cut their own flesh in their
fatal attempt to call down the power of their mighty
one. Needless to say, nothing happened; all they
did was make a mockery of themselves and the one they
worshipped. Next up was the prophet
Elijah. Now before offering the burnt offering, he asked
that four barrels of water be poured on the sacrifice
and wood. This man wanted to show beyond a shadow of
doubt who reigned supreme – Yahweh or Baal. After this
was done, he prayed to Yahweh and at that very that
moment the fire of Yahweh came down from heaven and
consumed both the water and burnt offering. When this
happened the people of Israel fell upon their faces
and said, “Yahweh, he is the Elohim.” After this the
people killed the 400 prophets of Baal.
We're going to take a short break but when we come back
we're going to continue talking about Elijah and
what happened here in this passage. Stay tuned. We'll
be right back! Many Bible believers today
have followed tradition handed down by previous
generations. They believe and were taught that Sunday
is the proper day of worship, that the Savior
changed the day of worship from the Jewish Sabbath to
Sunday. The adoption of Sunday as
the Christian Sabbath has little to do with the Bible
and everything to do with Constantine the Great over
300 years after the Messiah's death.
Constantine was emperor of the Roman Empire from 306 to
337 CE. He was a sun worshiper who on his death
bed converted to Christianity. In 321 CE,
while still a sun worshiper, Constantine established
Sunday as the day of worship he decreed: "On the
venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people
residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed"
In this coin circulated by Constantine in 317 CE, we
see the face of Constantine on one side and on the
other, the figure of Sol Invictus the unconquered
sun. The sun god was also known
as Mithras and his birth was on December 25th. This date
was adopted as the birth of Christ and became the date
for Christmas many centuries later. Clearly Constantine
was an avid worshipper of the sun god Sol Invictus.
Amazingly Martin Luther the champion of the modern day
Protestant movement said: "They allege the Sabbath
changed into Sunday, the Lord’s day, contrary to the
Decalogue, as it appears, neither is there any example
more boasted of than the changing of the Sabbath day.
Great, say they, is the power and authority of the
church, since it dispensed with one of the Ten
Commandments." Nowhere in the Bible do we
see that Yahshua and His apostles change the day of
worship from Saturday to Sunday. In fact the Messiah
in His Sermon on the Mount has this end-time prophecy:
"Pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither
on the sabbath day" Call now and we'll send you

In this passage the prophet Elijah asks the people, how
long will you stand between two opinions? Elijah was
asking how long will you continue to dapple between
Yahweh and false worship. Obviously, this shows that
we cannot serve two masters, we must choose only one. We
know from this story that the people of Israel chose
Yahweh, but only after Elijah demonstrated Yahweh’s
awesome power. Now this question is just as
relevant to us as it was then. Where is our devotion
today; are we faithfully following our Father in
heaven or are we following another mighty one, perhaps
even unknowingly? In Jeremiah 10:2 we find a
warning about not following in the ways of the heathen.
It says there in Jeremiah 10, such an important
passage by the way that we understand this and know
this passage. Here's what the prophet says, it says,
“Thus saith Yahweh, Learn not the way of the heathen,
and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the
heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the
people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the
forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with
the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they
fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move
not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not:
they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be
not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also
is it in them to do good.” In verse two, Jeremiah warns
against following or worshipping like the
heathens. In this passage he describes how the people
would cut a tree from the forest, deck it with silver
and gold, and fasten it with nails and hammers that it
moved not. If you’re like me, you’re probably thinking
hmmm, Christmas tree. Truth be told, though, this
isn’t referring to a Christmas tree, but
nonetheless, this along many of our other traditions is
rooted in pagan worship. For example, Christmas is an
amalgamation of many different pagan observances,
including three that go back to Rome – Saturnalia (in
honor of Saturn), Mithraism (the worship of Mithra), and
the Feast of Sol Invictus (the open unconquered
s.u.n). The same is true for Easter and Halloween.
Matter of fact, for this reason many of the Puritans
in England would not observe these days. For instance,
according to Robert J. Myers in his book, "Celebrations",
he says this- “In England, for example, the Puritans
could not tolerate this celebrating for which there
was no biblical sanction. Consequently, the Roundhead
Parliament of 1643 outlawed the feasts of Christmas,
Easter, Whit-suntide, along with the saints’ days,”
Notice why these people refused to worship Christmas
and Easter; it says here that there was no biblical
sanction. Image what would happen if Christianity would
use this same standard today? As we find in
Jeremiah, we’re to avoid the ways of the heathen; this
would include any worship that is foreign to our
Father’s Word. The sad reality is, though,
much of today’s worship has been polluted and impacted
by the very thing that Jeremiah warns about here.
As believers it should be our goal
to return back to the original teachings of the
Messiah and His Apostles. This can only be done if
we’re willing to follow one master, which means that we
can’t add or take away from His truth.
This message of following our Father in heaven is
consistent from Old to New. In Matthew 4:10, in response
to Satan the devil, Yahshua the Messiah says that we
must serve Yahweh only. He says there to Satan the
Devil, “…Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship Yahweh thy Elohim, and him only
shalt thou serve.” Before we talk about what we
find here, let me provide you with some background.
After Yahshua was baptized by John the Baptist,
Scripture says that he went into the wilderness for 40
days. At the end of those days, the Bible says that He
hungered. It was only at this time that Satan came to
try and test our Savior. You see Satan waited until
Yahshua was at His weakest moment.
You know he often uses this same tactic with us; he will
try us only when we have reached our lowest moment.
It’s for this reason that we should always count the cost
and consider the blessings that lie ahead. Listen
friends, whatever suffering we go through in this life
is worth the cost. This life is short, is transitory; the
life to come, though, is forever; it will never end.
Now what did Yahshua say here Satan? He said, “You
shall worship Yahweh your Elohim, and him only shall
you serve.” Even though Yahshua spoke here but a few
words, their impact was enormous. Remember here that
Satan offered Yahshua all the kingdoms of this world –
the only thing required was for him to bow down and
worship Satan the devil. We see here that our Savior
counted the cost and knew that Satan’s promises fell
short to that which His Father had already promised.
This same lesson applies to us; we should worship Yahweh
only. Now I know that this sounds simple, but the world
offers many distractions; many that can and often will
pull us away from our Faith. To serve and worship Yahweh
first we must ensure that our priorities are in line
with His Word. For example, are we
observing the Sabbaths and Feast days? If not, we
should strive to learn more so that our worship will be
pleasing to Him. Serving our Father in heaven means that
we follow Him in all ways; that we make the necessary
sacrifices. As we find in Revelation 12:17 and 14:12,
we must have faith in our Savior AND keep His
commandments. While many have faith in the Messiah,
few today are keeping His commandments. Understand
that if we neglect either one, we are falling short
with our devotion. We're going to stop here,
we're going to take one more break. I pray that you'll
stay with us. We'll be back in just a moment. Stay
tuned! Did you know that many names
in the Bible have the short form of Yahweh? For example
the name Isaiah means Yah is Salvation. Jeremia-Yah,
meaning Yah-Exalts. The Yah prefix “is” the family Name,
also found in the Messiah’s Name Yah-shua. You’ve been
calling on the name Yahweh and may not have even known
it. The popular term Hallelu-Yah literally means,
"praise Yah". You can find the name Yahweh in most
dictionaries and encyclopedias.

Welcome back! As we saw before we broke,
in Revelation it speaks about how we're to keep the
commandments and the faith of Yahshua.
This was the message that Yahshua relayed to Satan the
devil. He said again that we must worship Yahweh and Him
alone. Now our struggles are not
always against Satan though, sometimes they’re against
our fellow man. In Galatians 1:10 we find how the Apostle
Paul handled this struggle. Book of Galations, a very
important book in the New Testament. Paul says this,
“For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? or do I seek to
please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be
the servant of Messiah.” Paul begins here by asking,
“…do I persuade men; or Elohim? Or do I seek to
please men” This is such an important lesson for us as
believers. The fact is, there are many ministers
today who cater the message to its congregants. This is
most often done for one reason and that is numbers.
You know that’s one thing that this Ministry
determined never to do. In the very beginning our goal
was simple – preach the Word as we find it, regardless of
the consequences. For us, this goal has never changed.
This is the same message we find here from Paul. He
wasn’t concerned about pleasing men; His concern
was pleasing His Savior, Yahshua the Messiah. This
goes back to the concept that our devotion cannot be
divided. As Paul says here, if we’re pleasing men, we’re
not pleasing our Savior. Now this concept can be
applied in many ways. Besides applying it to the
assembly; we can also apply it to our personal lives –
whether it’s in our relationships, careers, or
any other aspect. For example, when it comes to
the Sabbath, who are we going to please first – our
employer or our Father in heaven?
Let me share with you a quick story. There was a
believer that had a great position with a large
profitable company. One year right before the Feast of
Tabernacles in the fall, management scheduled a
required meeting. This person was told that if he
was not there that he was not to return back to work.
Doing the only thing he could, he ignored the
required meeting and went to Feast of Tabernacles. When
the Feast was over, he went back to work and nothing was
ever said or done. In like manner, nothing
should prevent us from following our Father in
heaven. The lesson here is so simple, but yet vitally
important – if we please men before our Father Yahweh we
will then forfeit our place within His Kingdom. Listen
friends -- if we’re not fully committed to Him then
we’re wasting not only His time, but our time as well.
In Matthew 13:19 Yahshua provides an incredible
parable that illustrates this point. Here's what He
says in this parable, Matthew 13, He says there,
“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and
understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and
catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is
he which received seed by the way side. But he that
received the seed into stony places, the same is he that
heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet
hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for
when tribulation or persecution ariseth because
of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that
received seed among the thorns is he that heareth
the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he
becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the
good ground is he that heareth the word, and
understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth
forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
In this parable Yahshua gives four different
scenarios as to how people respond to the Word. The
first is he that receives the word, but immediately
that word is removed by Satan the devil. I believe
that this describes the person whose life is not
conducive or compatable to the Word, therefore allowing
Satan to remove it before it ever takes root.
The second example describes a person who shows
excitement and enthusiasm for the Truth, but who in
the end doesn’t have the devotion or faith to
withstand the trials and tribulations that come with
the truth. I’ve known many people who fit into this
category; they come in with fire and passion, but they
soon fizzle out to never be seen again. This is why as
believers we must realize from the beginning that our
Father’s truth is not easy. If we're going to succeed,
we must learn how to overcome trials and
challenges; this is even more important as we
approach our Savior’s Second Coming.
The third example describes a person who has a desire to
follow Yahweh, but allows the world to distract them
from fully committing. This is probably the most common
example we see; many people have a desire for the truth,
but their desire is outweighed by their love for
the world. This is why it’s important that we understand
that we must make a choice as to whom we’re going to
serve. Listen, if we try to serve both, we will not
succeed with either. The last example here
represents those who hear the Word and are faithful to
it. These are those who are able to fully commit and to
make the necessary sacrifices. Now notice that
not everyone in this last example bears the same
amount of fruit. As it says here, some will bring forth
a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. The Bible
indicates that those who bring forth greater fruit
will receive the greater blessings. For instance, in
Luke 19 we find that those who show greater devotion
will be given greater dominion within Yahweh’s
kingdom. This is the promise that
lies ahead for us as His people. All we need to do is
fully commit, fully apply our lives to Him and realize
that we must count the cost and serve Him only. This is
our calling friends. I pray that this program has
been a blessing to you. I pray that we devote each and
every day to our Father in heaven because, listen this
is the only way we will ever achieve Yahweh's kingdom. If
we detract, if we ignore, if we decide not to purse it
fully we will not be found faithful in the end. This is
the lesson. I pray that ithas been a blessing to
you. I pray that you will join me next week as we
uncover Yahweh's truth. May Yahweh bless you!
