The 18th of March 2012, the Bastille belongs to Left-Front
Thanks to all for this extraordinary day
that Jean-Luc Mélenchon is going to conclude
He's going to rostrum
He's going up onto the podium
Jean-Luc Mélenchon!
(Resistance! Resistance! Resistance! ...)
And where were we gone?
Where were we vanished all this time?
We missed ourselves,
we waited for ourselves...
we are reunited!
Génie of the Bastille who culminates in this square:
We're back!
We the people of revolutions and rebellions in France!
We are the red flag!
and the red of the (french) flag!
We are the open hand, offered for solidarity,
and the clenched fist that gives strength to pass on its energy!
We came together
because we will make this election
a civic insurrection
that will, by making the first appointment at the ballot box,
will start that day, the citizens' revolution that is necessary to accomplish
to deeply change the life of the people who suffers
and then to open the breach that the whole Europe are expecting from its french volcano!
Yes, we see it... we feel it... we know it...
spring is in 3 days.
Every mornings that rises, the light extends his domain during the day,
the night folds back,
Come "le temps des cerises" and happy days!
Here is our first message, for all those who hear us and listen to us,
in this square, in the adjacent streets from where we can not move forward,
and in every homes where we are watching us,
here in metropolitan France and France's overseas,
and wherever in Europe, wherever French is spoken,
wherever there is french dream,
because its people is expected, this great movement
that will not free only where we are,
but wherever servitudes exist.
We address our fraternal salut and our solidarity
to the Greek people who suffers!!
To Spanish!! To Portuguese!! To Italians!!
To all who have so far over their heads,
the weight of the oppression, came from the abject troïka
that decided from now to control each people
and to whom, apparently, we will have to request permission to freely dispose of ourselves.
Here, in this square, we pledge our word of honour,
if it's us who are called to rebuild the game rule of our country,
by convening the necessary Constituent Assembly,
then, never again, a single delegation of people sovereignty
will be done without requesting a referendum.
Sovereignty of the people,
here is the great question that, from now, the whole Europe will have to spend time on,
Europe that sees itself once again entering into an initiative
that commits the same mistakes than in previous seasons of History:
Europe is builded up without the peoples and without the democracy.
Then, to start this huge work, first at home in France,
we came to the right spot, at the right time.
The right spot, here where the oath has been sworn a first time
to come together, to prevent by all means at our disposal,
the fascists to take over the country.
This square
where this feminist movement gathered in 1935,
that already wanted to break off the chains of patriarchy
by requesting a truly universal suffrage.
This square where was burned the last throne of kings.
This square, where everythings always begin
and that is the starting point of all of our revolutions,
and above all the first one,
which took place in 1789 by pulling down the citadel of tyrants.
The one that was done, with words and principles so great
that they made possible this fact, since then,
it is possible to be French wherever you are in the world and right here in France,
having french parents or not,
as long as we say and agree to accept as equal,
whoever says like us: "liberty, equality, fraternity"!
We are at the right date,
the 18th of March, beginning of the great and glorious Paris Commune.
Here is among us, the shadow of a woman, Louise Michel, to whom we dedicate ourselves.
And now we also answer
to the call of Jules Vallès and to the "Cri du Peuple" (Yell of the People),
which concluded the call to the first insurrection with these words:
"Way for the People, Way for the Commune!".
And we still say nothing else today.
At the right date.
50 years after the end of fighting in Algeria,
I declare in the name of the people gathered here:
yes, the war is over, and we will not allow them to start it here once again!
We are one family,
peoples of the Maghreb, Arabian and Berber peoples and nations, and we, French people.
After the silence of weapons, we owe to our children the peace of hearts!
French people, at this occasion, meditates
on the terrible lesson of your history:
where the human equality is no longer common,
where the complete freedom of conscience and political rights is no longer common,
where fraternity is no longer common,
then France is no longer possible.
This is why we need today,
in this France, disfigured by
social, territorial, cultural, between women and men inequalities,
to turn the page of the old regime once again,
to start a new chapter that will allow,
as it is our tradition, varied as we are,
in rebuilding the Republic, to rebuild France itself.
And by rebuilding the Republic all together,
to rebuild ourselves as a unique people, free, fraternal, and equal.
We will start where it has to begin:
which means by convening the Constituent,
we will begin the first of all equality that it is indispensable to establish:
the gender parity!
This Constituent will have to be strictly equal,
and so will begin the march of equality.
Equality through which everything begins in France.
The equality that will lead us to proclaim the end to the privileges of capital,
the promulgation of corporate citizenship,
correcting what had not been finished
when, as said Jean Jaurès:
"The great Revolution made Frenchmen/women kings in city,
but left them serfs in corporation".
These new rights for workers,
the right of veto,
the pre-emption right on capital ownership
affordable to workers who would form a workers' cooperative,
the right of requisition by the Fatherland when a good is deemed common.
It is us who will write this new right down,
that there is a human collective ownership for basic goods,
such as water and energy.
It is us who give full way to the dignity of human love
by extending to all couples
the rights that are granted to heterosexual couples today.
