Hi, for eeepc.it today we’ll see the Asus Transformer Pad 300.
This is the latest Asus Tablet, 10-inch, with Nvidia Tegra 3
as hardware platform and a quad-core processor.
It’s available in Italy in the Wi-Fi version at 399 euros, and
in the 3G version at 499 euros.
It’s really similar to the Transformer Prime, the top range of the Asus series,
the difference is just that here for the whole frame we don’t have aluminum, but plastic.
The construction quality is good by the way, so that I consider this one
the best 10-inch tablet in this price range.
We have some technical specs that are in the mid-range of the Android sector, though.
For example the screen. In fact, even if it’s IPS, with above-average quality,
the viewing angles are just acceptable and the brightness just adequate,
so that it’s not very good outdoor.
Then, the back camera.
Even if 8 Megapixel and with focal ratio 2.2, better than all
the other Android Tablets
on the market, lacks of the LED flash, unlike the one set up on the Transformer Prime.
But in the everyday use is the screen, a little dark, that you notice much,
and it’s the only “not so good” feature.
By the way, those are just some little details that are surely
paid off by the lower list price.
Moreover there are features that make me recommend you this Tablet for the everyday use:
The 32 Gb of main memory (expandable with the micro-SD card),
the micro-HDMI output to connect it to an external monitor or full-HD television,
but most of all the Nvidia quad-core platform managed as of tradition by Asus,
with three different energetic set-up that let you save energy and increase the battery life when you need.
Now let’s see the Web navigation,
And let’s see the performances with HD videos and playing 3D games.
You can find the in-depth article on the performances
- Web navigation, HD videos and 3D games - at the link on the screen.
One of the most interesting feature is that even with performances employed
to their full potential and intensive use of games and HD videos,
the platform remains relatively cold and we don’t have any hot part.
Before leaving the multimedia aspect, I’d like to bring to your attention
that the built-in speaker here on the rear is able to give
a good volume and sounds nice.
But at least in these two weeks of test, I couldn’t get Skype
to work with the 1.2 Megapixel front-cam.
I’ve had some problems with the GPS reception too,
‘cause there are serious difficulties
in keeping the satellites lock, especially indoor.
Outdoor the performances are medium-level, but actually lower
than some competing models.
The battery life is good instead, most of all considering that we have
a small battery that allows this Tablet to be so thin.
I could reach almost 7 hours with Wi-Fi on, surfing the Web,
without the Asus energetic set-up and so with the Tegra3 used to its full potential.
The performances are similar watching videos and a little lower playing games.
By the way, the battery life can last the whole workday,
and keep in mind that it
can be almost doubled using the keyboard dock, just connecting it to the Tablet.
To sum up, Asus Transformer Pad 300 is a really good tablet.
Well it’s not perfect but actually it doesn’t show so bad flaws
that make me advise you not to buy it.
But most of all it’s a good “upgrade” for those who already have the TF101 with Tegra 2
and it’s a good alternative for those who don’t want
to overspend buying the Transformer Prime.

the complete review at the link on the screen.
