What we want to do is increase student understanding of basic material, enhance their analytic and proficiency skills,
and validate their mastery.

I come to LEAD because you can get help from your peers, and you can get help from your teachers whenever you need it
instead of - like - the - like - stress of the classroom, I guess, and I expect just to - like - be able to get my homework done
and have one-on-one attention.
And what I've found from LEAD was, well this is my second semester repeating chemistry, and uh, I didn't come to LEAD at first cause, ya know,
I was kinda ranked high in my class, and I didn't think I needed the help ... I kinda sat there and didn't really ask a lot of questions,
but this semester, ya know, I came here and started asking for help from my peers.
This really showed me that, hey, even if I do need help, that it's not - it's not a bad thing to ask for help at this level.

Student 1: Well, this is my best friend that I was talking about Student 2: Oh yah, nice to meet you.

I come to LEAD to work problems, to get help, ...
and to interact with my peers about how they understand problems,so that I can better understand problems.
Good time management if you come here - you know - you're going to be working, you're not going to be on Facebook ...
... you're not gonna be doing other things. It really helps a lot.
I got it right! Yes! Whoa! I'm so excited! Yes! Oh my God!..OK.

Student 1: Oh my gosh! I hope it's right. Student 2: No, it's right ... I'm tellin' you ... It is right.

Student 2: Got 'em! Student 1: Yes! Student 2: I told you! I told you!
Life is good now!
I'd like to point out that these learning centers are not mandatory for students ... that they don't have to come.
Many faculty do give a small amount of extra credit points.
About 700 students use learning centers each week, so students vote with their feet.
We have data that clearly shows that it is almost a linear relationship between ...
... the number of times students come to a learning center and their final course grade.
