Hello my name is Christine, I am here to show you how to use the new Blackboard (Bb) features that will allow us to share more
as a community by creating more socialization in our online class.
This video will show you how to start the icebreaker activity and introduction which is due during the first days of class.
First of all you may have noticed in the upper right hand corner when
you sign into Bb that your name is there with an image box next to it.
Your image box may be blank or you may have already posted your picture there.
What we are going to go ahead and do is add: a picture (no avatars), our area of study, and a bio,
and then we'll visit the discussion area to introduce ourselves and see how our new profiles enhance our experience.
So first of all let me show you how to add a picture, once you click on the image box it should open up to the profile page.
It will say "Edit My Blackboard Profile". As you can see I have the option to change the picture
(or if it's your first time it should say add a picture), go ahead and upload your picture.
Now in the next box it will ask you how you want your name displayed, go ahead and enter your name.
If you have a nickname you can enter a nickname.
Now enter your area of study in the box below that. And in the box below that enter a little bio,
something interesting about yourself, and your educational goals.
On the right hand side you will see where it says the option to click on private or my institution.
If you click on my institution it will increase your learning network, and share it with the entire campus.
If you click on private it will just show, share it with your classmates.
The next step is to scroll down enter your email address. Go ahead after that and click submit.
An email will be sent to you so you can verify your account,
once your account is verified you will have a "Verified" check mark next to your email address.
Your profile is now complete and you are ready for action, just a few more things.
Click the back button go the upper right hand corner and click the drop down arrow, this will open your navigation and course box.
You will have the option to edit your Bb Profile, click on the Bb Home page which will show your posts and your calendar,
Click on the Posts Icon which will show your Posts only, click on the Clock Icon which shows your updates,
Click on the Calendar box which will show your Calendar, or click on the Social Smiley Face People button,
this will take you to your new learning network.
The final step is to go to the discussion board titled, "Introductions" and follow the directions. See you there!
