Final Cut Pro X has a great feature for creating a storyboard.
The basic idea here is to edit a placeholder into the timeline and then cut it up into
pieces based on your script or dialogue track.
The placeholder is found within the Browser window by clicking on the generators button.
It is located within the elements category.
Drag the placeholder to a new project.
Then specify a project setting that matches the majority of your video content.
Okay, now I'm going to find my voice over track in the event library.
You can connect it to the primary storyline using the Q key.
Trim the placeholder to match the duration of your voiceover track.
Now make sure the playhead indicator is back at the front of the timeline.
Next, as play through the timeline, and use the keyboard shortcut command B to break the
placeholder into pieces.
"Are you looking for Relaxation?"
"Do you need a break from the every day?"
"Then come to beautiful Sunny Jamaica and the couples all inclusive resort."
"The Couples Jamaican resort offers week long all inclusive vacation packages that feature
parasailing, diving, local cuisine, sailing lessons.”
"Or just relax pool side, or beach side."
Then click on one of the placeholder's in the timeline.
Move over to the generator's tab within the inspector window.
So for this example, I'll choose 2 people at the beach on a sunny day.
You can also add additional details by activating the view notes box.
Then click on the text tab and type your note.
You can also pick from a variety of font presets and then adjust the size.
Now it makes it incredibly easy to go and find the matching content and simply replace
each placeholder with the correct clip.
It's that easy!
And don’t forget, GeniusDV also offers classroom or onsite Final Cut Pro X training.
