These guys had been motoring flat out
twelve or more hours to get to me,
they must have been
exhausted when they got to me, they found me,
difficult scenario and
hey went to work
It was extraordinary, I set the EPO of at 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't sure whether, you're never sure whether it's going to work or not
I strapped it into the cockpit as it could so it wouldn't get taken overboard by
a wave and
I just went below and waited
It happened at midday and till dark I was very very concerned, you do think your numbers up,
there's no question about that
I'd been at sea for fourteen days at this point and I'd been nine days trying to
get back to Sydney
When I knew I was two hundred and seventy miles, rather than sixty or seventy, I knew I was
a little concerned, but by this time, these guys had found me
The conditions at the time I believe, were extremely rough, with up to
forty knot
winds and three to four metre sea conditions, making them extremely dangerous,
Glen was safely removed or retrieved from the yacht with
the great work obviously from the water police, with the extreme conditions,
They departed the location at 7 am, obviously
arriving back here at the Marine Area Command as you know at about 3 am this morning,
safe and well, Glen's in good condition
These guys have been extraordinary,
Australia's very fortunate to have people like this, honestly, it's amazing,
everyone who's been involve, from the commercial aircraft, the
planes,
the water police, the central coordination in Canberra,
it's extraordinary,
really really amazing
I just want to thank the coordinated effort
from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, obviously with the Marine Area Command, I'd like to commend obviously
the commercial airline, Air Canada, and their passengers for their assistance at the time,
the crew on board the ANL Banella, they did a great job, also stayed on scene and provided
assistance
and of course our crew on the Police Launch Nemesis,
from what I understand, it was extremely trying conditions, there was five metre seas
and up to forty-five knot winds and they've done a remarkable job, especially
trying to retrieve Glen
The approach, the profession, the
professional approach to this is just,
it's just amazing,
these guys know what they're doing,
they look after you,
they take you into their care and get things done
