I'm Dr. Cybele Fishman, a board certified dermatologist who's been
practicing in New York City for nine years. After graduating from NYU
Medical School, I studied dermatology at the Albert Einstein School of
Medicine and I did a melanoma fellowship at Harvard. My practice is a mix
of medical and cosmetic dermatology. I love doing botox and fillers. It's
very creative and very fun, but I also think it's so important to get
yearly full body skin cancer screenings.
Treating acne is a particular passion of mine because I think acne is so
negatively impacts people's lives and self-esteem. I've seen it time and
time again in my office where people won't go to work or people won't go on
dates because of their acne. For me to help a patient with their acne is
incredibly satisfying. I've also taken classes at the Continuum Center for
Health and Healing in New York City in an effort to make my practice more
integrated and holistic.
What I mean by that is I really try to get to know my patients, get to know
what makes them tick, learn about their nutritional status, their lifestyle,
their stress levels, what's going on with them. I find this has really
helped me become a better doctor and be able to tailor my treatment plans
very much for the individual. I also believe that skin health is really
just a reflection of overall health and so often, I try to use supplements
or make other modifications in someone's lifestyle and nutrition to help
them with their skin.
I do think this holistic approach is a wonderful way to practice medicine.
