Deonta Howard's mother told the Chicago Tribune while her three-year-old son took a bullet
to the jaw, he's making a quick recovery. The boy even refuses to take off a brand new
pair of tennis shoes at bedtime in his hospital room.

Chicago media outlets disagree on the suspects' alleged roles in the shooting. While WLS-TV
says either Champ or Gatewood pulled the trigger, the Tribune's sources told the paper the men
only transported the military-grade assault rifle to the park.
