Hi. I'm Scott for Expert Village and today I'm going to teach you how to make a Chinese
compass. The next part we need in order to suspend our needle, of course, is a piece
of string. Now, using a thinner string would be ideal. This one, we actually pulled out
of a sewing kit as well. I don't know if you can see it as well. I actually chose a piece
of black string. It's just thread. All you need it to do is to hang the needle from the
pin that we are going to suspend the needle from and let it float in space. Now it's better
to float in space because there is no friction; the only friction it has is the air. And of
course, it is a needle and we all know how a needle functions as it goes through the
air (little or no friction). So, that is good. Be sure to tune in to the other segments of
this series to make sure that you can properly follow all of the necessary steps in order
to properly finish this project.
