The OECD is very proud of its roots in the post-war period, when it grew out of the Marshall
plan and reconstruction of Europe, when countries that agreed on how to build themselves back
up again through entrepreneurialism and trade and democratic processes all got together
to create global standards. But of course fifty years later it's evolving, it's evolving
to something new, more outward looking, more modern, more relevant. Countries like China,
India, Indonesia, South Africa, and Brazil are coming here to work with us on global
standards. They don't just apply in North America and Europe anymore. They apply around
the globe.
