Today punchs and kicks everywhere. Legend, Mutant League Hockey, Karnov's Revenge and the first preview of Double Dragon V. História Revista in on.
Ação Games Nr 60, June 1994, only 3 URV. The World Cup just started in USA and they gave for free one button. In the next one it was one of those water tattoos
In this cover we see a beautiful illustration from Legend without a true reason, ill explain this later.
Another bizarre thing is they invented this seal of quality for the best games but no one got the prize, and there was one with the maximum grade, who can understand this.
Here we have an ad, the Cougar Boy, looks like a Gameboy clone but its not,its another thing and very different.
It can be found in some places with the name Mega Duck and got their own games, also released on the Gameboy as collections.
In shots, i cant remember reading too many bizarre and useless news like in this month. The only thing "worth" the time is this preview from Double Dragon V
and we all know how things worked out in the end. After this they would do another Double Dragon more than one year later, that one for Neo Geo.
Here one of the main games on the month, Jurassic Park Interactive on the 3DO. The grade shows how they thought this kind of thing would work on videogame.
Today we know those fmv games are crap. The text didnt said this game was only a couple of minigames and some people pretending to be the cast from the film.
In the lower side you can see small pieces of some crackers i was eating someday.
In SNES we have Legend, the game i cant understand why is in the cover if we can find better ones, like Knights of the Round from Capcom on the next page.
The beat n up genre was screaming for something new but this was from Capcom and did great. At the time they also did Dungeons and Dragons and Aliens vs Predator, my all-time favorite.
Lets go for another round in boxing games history, this will be quick. In the last episode we saw Julio Cesar Chavez signed for a game released on Latin America and here it is.
Some time later the sequel, Chavez 2, a modification of Legends of the Ring that was a better version of Foreman for Real. Nothing to say about his first game,
tried to mimic Punch Out and failed just like the true sequel, Power Punch 2 with Mike Tyson fighting on outer space.
At the time he was on jail and they got time only to change the name of the player, the faces from Tyson and Don King are there.
SOS, in this game we have one hour to save some people and escape from the sinking boat. This game was based on Poseidon, the film, and in 1998 some pirates
turned this game on Titanic. Those guys are the same who did Campeonato Brasileiro over Superstar Soccer.
Mutant League Hockey, *** awesome. EA was brilliant, they already have the best sport games and decided to do something different.
Starting from NHL Hockey, they put some extras as blood, weapons and traps and the final result was better than ever. The hockey game was the second on the series,
Mutant League Football was the first and you may remember the cartoon. The football game can be found in EA Replay on the PSP, also with Desert and Jungle Strike, Budokan and Road Rash series.
In the same page the ad from Chapulin vs Dracula on Master System but nobody cared about this game. It was a official modification of Ghost House from Sega,
a game from the 80s, but Tec Toy did better on other games. At first i thought it was based on Master of Darkness, a Castlevania clone.
Instruments of Chaos Starring Young Indiana Jones, underrated series people loved on dvd but the game isnt that lucky. Nobody liked it because of the controls,
the weapons where the whip and a gun with very little ammo available and people was too lazy to learn how to use the whip. its not that hard, and we all know
this wasnt easy for Indy, shouldnt be for us too. This is one of those game that deserves a second chance. Here we see another fmv disaster on the Sega CD:
Prize Fighter, sounded as a good idea, boxing films from the 50s but everyone knew the system wasnt that powerful and that was the excuse to use b&w footage.
Nobody was fooled and enough talking about boxing. In the end we have Karnov's Revenge, the sequel released on Neo Geo. The first game used 6 buttons
and Data East was sued by Capcom. They didnt win but its funny how in the third game, released only in Japan, they made a tag team mode
and later Capcom built a fortune on fighting games with tag team, the Vs series, Tatsunoko and now Street Fighter X Tekken.
In this page the coming attractions from the next issue and in the last page Patrick Ewing is here to sell his boots.
And this was Ação Games 60, June 1994. A short and confused issue as everyone was in a rush to finish work and go watch the world cup. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more.
