Izzy is coming in a few minutes, no lunch this time, but to talk
Okay well, she doesn't know we're gonna talk that's just a formality
I convinced her that since we didn't see her over the holidays, Dad really needed Izzy time
so she and the kids are going to spend the week down here
and since John is so busy with work, he'll drive down on the weekend
I played on her daughter guilt.
I'm clever that way. This way I get uninterrupted time with my sister
so I can properly diagnose the condition and make her life Emma Approved
I picked up a super cute dress from this boutique last week and, well, we'll talk
Izzy gets a flattering versatile basic, and she gets her problems solved!
I am Emma Woodhouse and Izzy Knightley, I will make your life better!
Emma, You busy?
Busy waiting for you! Come, sit.
Okay
For you, from me
Oh! But you already got me a Christmas present
Can't a girl get her sister a gift for the sake of giving?
Oh... thank you. It's versatile!
What is this really about?
Oh... wow.
Yeah. Wow. You've always tried to hide your true intentions by bribery
- what's going on, Ems? - Well... um...
I was hoping we could talk about something serious.
Serious? Oh my gosh, is it dad's blood pressure? Oh, I was worried it was too high
- No no, dad's fine. - but this morning we talked about his BMI and he told me-
- Izzy! Dad's fine. Even when he says he's not, he's fine. Trust me.
- You're sure? - Of course I'm sure. I'm the one who sees him regularly.
Right now, I'm more worried about you.
Me? My blood pressure is great. You know, I do yoga twice a week, and john has us eating healthy.
And that's all great. Being healthy... and yoga...
- And... you're happy? - Yes of course. We talked about this already.
Look, Henry and Little Emma are great. The restaurant expansion is doing great.
I mean, things couldn't be better.
-Uh-huh. -What makes you think I'm not?
Are you and John okay?
Yes! Of course!
- John and I are fine. - Really? He's giving you everything you need?
Yes. He's a great husband. He's a great husband.
Look... he's great.
I just feel he doesn't care for what I have to say, sometimes... you know.
- What times? - Well like, so I've been thinking about the house.
I thought maybe we could push down a wall in the kitchen
and make the space more open plan. And that way I can see the kids in the living room from the kitchen
But John said it was impractical, so... he was right
But is that really impractical? It sounds like it would make your life easier.
well I showed him some of the blueprints I drew up and I told him it wouldn't be that much money
But, there's a ten year plan and in that ten year plan there is no room for
redesigning a house
- So. I can let it go. We're good. - Izzy. If money is the issue, Dad can eas-
Oh, no no. John would not like it if we took dad's money.
He wouldn't take money from his parents either
he's determined to make it on his own and I'm proud of him for that.
Okay, that make sense. But this hasn't been the only time he's ignored your feelings
-has it? - It's not ignoring my feelings. He's just right.
although there was this one time that I wanted to take Emma to daycare he said
it was too expensive
and I thought it would be good for her to socialize with more than just her
brother
Izzy, you have to stand up to him! He can't always get his way.
No, Emma. Look, I just want to make him happy. I want a happy household.
It's not a happy household if you are not happy you're half of the house!
John loves me, I know it.
Thank you for caring, but, let it be. Please.
But, Izzy. Come on.
Look, I have to go. I can't leave the kids with dad forever, or they might really destroy
his blood pressure
Thank you for the dress. It's very cute.
Though that didn't work out the way I planned. She'll be back!
Izzy can be hard to crack. She is my big sister, she's used to
helping me
not the other way around. -Emma!
See, I told you so!
-Where are my car keys? - I thought they were in your purse.
-They were in my purse, until you stole them like you did
back in high school
Emma, I'm busy
I don't have time for these games. - How can you be busy? You're on vacation.
- It's a figure of speech. - I miss you, Izzy, it's really nice having you around
- I miss you too, but you know John's restaurant - - I know, I know, I just
I guess I was just hoping we would spend more time while you're in town, just us and
I never get to see you alone anymore
- We will. I promise. - Well, you're on vacation. But I still have to work.
Although, I guess we could just hang around here
- Here? While you're working? - If you let me help you, that could count as work
No! I'm not going to be your client!
No, you'd be my sister, who I love and want to help here at work.
Emma. Stay out of it.
Wait! What if I told dad?
- Told dad what? - That John doesn't treat you the way you deserve.
- What? Where did you get that idea?
- you said it. - I did not. You're not telling dad anything.
Well you know how much dad worries about your happiness
What would he think if he knew I knew and didn't do anything about it?
- You wouldn't. - Maybe.
Emma. Stay out of it. Meddling has always been your worst habit and it never turns out well.
- Izzy, let me help you. Please. - No, I told you already -
Come on! Please, please please please please please please, you can't leave, I've got your purse!
This means a lot to you, doesn't it?
Yes! Helping my big sister, in her hour of need, means everything to me.
- I could never forgive myself I didn't. - God, you're so dramatic.
- If I agree to this, will you stop stealing my things? - Are you going to let me make your life better?
I'll come back tomorrow morning. One session.
Thank you, you won't regret it!
I'll see you tomorrow, Emma.
Yes!
