Handmade Spurs Here's a pair of custom made spurs
Custom spurs I've been working on for about two days the shanks are completely
stock removal
and the spur heel bands are a inch and a quarter wide
as you can tell the spur heel bands are thick in the back I started with quarter-inch thick
Steel...stock
and worked the sides down to 3/16" cut-out
The notches there for the hangers to sit in
and then the loops are hand riveted
into the spurs
7/8" spur rowels and they are hand filed
and I just lack a little bit more polishing
before they go in... I usually put those in after I do
most all of the sivler mounting and soldering the silver pieces to the spurs
and then I'll put those in at the last
them probably solder a piece a silver over the
The spur rowel pin
there's a look at a pair of custom made welded roping spurs
that are ready now to be silver mounted
once the silver pieces are hand cut with a jewelers "frame" saw
and each piece of silver that I cut out
will have to be hand shaped and fitted to the spur
I use Harris 45% brazing alloy "Hard Solder" made by The Harris Products Group.
so the silver pieces will be hard soldered on
to the spur..Thanks for watching this spur making video. Bruce Cheaney
